Westlake Village is a Continuum of Care Retirement Community where all facets of living and care for the aging are located in one location. The site and landscape design for this terraced, 55-acre community is designed to provide comfortable and convenient access to the outdoors for all residents and visitors. Although West Texas is renowned for being dry and windy, an integrated design process for site and building design has resulted in the creation of sheltered, landscaped outdoor rooms for year-round enjoyment.   A hierarchy of differentiated small parks, landscape patios, plazas and walkways are specifically designed to respond to the special needs of the users of each adjacent building, while providing desirable connectivity across the site. The landscape design and materials complement the architecture, are primarily native or regional in nature, and help to reinforce the overall sense of place for the entire community.
