Sandia Casino Amphitheater

Hotel Albuquerque | Sandia Casino Ampitheater | Mariposa Community Center | Paa-Ko Ridge Clubhouse

The Sandia Amphitheater is an integral feature at the Sandia Casino in Albuquerque.  The amphitheater was originally conceived as a festival style venue with open lawn seating.  After recognizing the potential to draw large crowds to the casino, the casino asked D/P/S to design modifications to improve the concert experience for both audiences and performers.

Lawn seating was replaced with 4,000 fixed seats and the existing stage area was modified to benefit both audience and performers.  The electrical systems were upgraded to industry standards for larger scale concerts and a permanent stage cover was added to protect performers in inclement weather.  Dressing rooms, a "green room” and a loading dock were added backstage to make production more efficient.  Better-defined and equipped concession areas were added under the existing pine log ramada around the perimeter.  All of these modifications were designed to complement the highly successful regional architectural theme.  The completed project creates a beautiful foreground for the majestic casino entrance.  Views from the seating to the Sandia Mountains create a unique and powerful outdoor concert experience.
