Paa-Ko Clubhouse
Hotel Albuquerque | Sandia Casino Ampitheater | Mariposa Community Center | Paa-Ko Ridge Clubhouse
The Paa-Ko Ridge Clubhouse, nestled along the eastern slope of the Sandia Mountains east of Albuquerque, echoes the uniqueness of the area with architecture reminiscent of the Anasazi Indian cultures of New Mexico. A round and visually deteriorating stone tower separates two major building forms. One side includes the pro shop and lot sales office, while the other contains the golf course restaurant and restrooms.
With the building sited on an existing knoll, visitors pass from the parking area through the stone tower and onto a covered flagstone portal with spectacular views of the golf course and the mountains beyond. Bancos with flagstone seats provide outdoor seating in addition to wrought iron tables and chairs. An outdoor Kiva fireplace anchors one corner of the building and provides an inviting welcome to golfers finishing their round.
Within the building, window locations are coordinated with existing pinion trees to enhance both near and distant views from the pro shop and restaurant. The restaurant has a Kiva fireplace as well as multiple nichos displaying items of the southwestern vernacular. The Pro Shop’s interior is finished with millwork and display fixtures that have been distressed to create a natural wood finish complimenting the architecture of the facility.
