New Mexico Rail Runner Commuter Rail

Alvarado Transportation Center | New Mexico Rail Runner Commuter Rail

Dekker/Perich/Sabatini was part of a multi-disciplinary team selected by the Mid-Region Council of Governments to design the first phase of New Mexico Rail Runner.  The Rail Runner features eight stops, extending from Belen to Santa Fe, along the existing Burlington Northern Santa Fe Rail rights-of-way.  Each stop has a platform with shade structures, site furnishings, and special lighting, and some include park-and-ride parking lots.  Also included at each station are glass and steel windscreens with acid etched artwork depicting images which reference the unique character of the surrounding communities.

System wide graphics including branding, color schemes, car interiors and station signage were designed by Vaughn Wedeen Creative.  Civil Engineering and project management were provided by HDR, Inc.  Platform layout and amenities were designed by Otak, and aesthetic design of the platforms, canopies, lighting and site furnishings were provided by Dekker/Perich/Sabatini.
