Mariposa Community Center

Phase one of the Mariposa Community Center is a one story 11,000sf fitness center, featuring two swimming pools, an exercise room, a multi-purpose room, and a beverage bar café.  Designed to reinforce a sustainable and pedestrian oriented community, it has achieved LEED Silver Certification.

The project’s aesthetic is based on familiar architectural forms found in the New Mexico landscape, such as the tapering circular mass reminiscent of a Torreon that identifies the café, which creates a focal point within the landscape and identifies the entry.  The strategic location of solid and transparent surfaces creates public and private spaces for the community center allowing visibility into the center, engaging the pedestrian, while still providing privacy for the occupants.
