Del Norte High School
Originally constructed in early 1960’s, and modified through multiple renovations and additions throughout the following years, Del Norte High School serves as an important component of Albuquerque Public Schools because of its long traditions and geographical location within the city. The overall redevelopment master plan consists of the phased replacement of approximately 60% of the existing buildings on the campus.
The design for the comprehensive high school consolidated the foot print into a three story building that seamlessly inserts into the existing sloping parking lot. A self contained 9th grade academy is strategically placed on the first floor to provide separation from career-oriented academies for 10th, 11th and 12th grades, located on the upper two floors.
The new technologically advanced 150,000 square-feet high school for 1200 students uses cutting edge design and complements current educational trends, goals and values. This redevelopment will create an ecologically sensitive world class learning environment with spectacular views that will prepare students for the world beyond.
