Advent Solar | ABQ Studios | Eclipse Aviation

As the first green building at Albuquerque’s Mesa del Sol, this 87,600sf manufacturing achieved LEED Gold Certification for its core and shell under LEED-CS. Material conservation was emphasized through use of recycled and locally available materials and recycling of construction waste. The building’s exterior skin is made up of tilt-up concrete panels with punched windows, glass overheard doors, and skylights daylighting the office and manufacturing spaces. Metal panels at the windows and entry tower provide a contrast with the colorful tilt-up walls and bring a high tech look to this environmentally sensitive facility.

Up to 30,000 gallons of rainwater are captured in two above-ground cisterns, which are used to irrigate the drought-tolerant landscaping and serve as a visible symbol for water conservation. Inside the building, low-flow plumbing fixtures reduce water use by over 30% compared to current code-standard fixtures. The building was designed to accommodate a future second level of office space within its volume, and an additional 40,000sf of manufacturing space.
