University of Nevada Reno Science & Math Center

Designed by Dekker/Perich/Sabatini in association with Hershenow + Klippenstein, this 102,000sf facility is the new home for the Science and Math Departments at UNR.  The building is a composition of three distinct parts – a teaching lab wing which relates to the brick tradition of campus; an office wing expressed as a glass and metal counterpoint to the lab; and, a 500 seat lecture hall which completes the composition by filling the area between.

The design features an efficient, functional layout, a café on the first floor, and a series of light-filled, dynamic spaces that allow general building circulation as well as collaborative opportunities between faculty and students.  Interaction at all levels is the promise of this new project.
